Support
Simmernook is a hands-free voice cooking companion: pick a recipe, prop your phone on the counter, and talk your way through the cook while an AI companion guides you, sets timers, and answers questions.
Need help? Email sajid.s.inamdar@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you. Including your iOS version, device model, and roughly when the issue happened helps us track it down quickly.
Troubleshooting
The companion can’t hear me / the microphone isn’t working
The companion needs microphone access to hear you.
- Open the iOS Settings app → scroll to Simmernook.
- Make sure Microphone is turned on.
- Fully quit and reopen the app, then start the cook again.
If you have a Bluetooth headset or AirPods connected, try switching audio to the phone’s own mic and speaker, which the app is tuned for.
The connection dropped, or the companion went quiet mid-cook
Cooking sessions run over a live internet connection, so a weak network can interrupt them. The app is built to reconnect automatically and pick up where you left off — including any running timer — so a brief blip usually heals itself within a few seconds.
- Give it a moment to reconnect before restarting.
- If it doesn’t recover, check your Wi-Fi or cellular signal and try moving closer to your router.
- If the companion seems lost after a reconnect, just tell it where you are (“I’m on the garlic step,” “the pasta’s been in about three minutes”) — it’s designed to re-orient from what you say.
- As a last resort, stop and start the cook again. You can always follow the on-screen written recipe to finish.
A timer didn’t chime, or the time seemed off
- The timer plays a chime through your phone and shows a live countdown on screen.
- If your phone was on silent or the volume was low, you may have missed the chime — check the on-screen countdown.
- If you think a timer was lost (for example after a reconnect), just ask the companion “how long is left on the timer?” or set a new one.
The app feels laggy or the voice is choppy
This is almost always the network. Try a stronger Wi-Fi signal, and close other apps that may be using a lot of bandwidth.
Reporting an unsafe or incorrect companionship response
The companion is AI-generated guidance and can occasionally be wrong. If the companion ever says something that is unsafe, incorrect, or inappropriate — for example bad food-safety advice, a wrong temperature or time, or anything that could cause harm — please tell us so we can improve it.
Email sajid.s.inamdar@gmail.com with:
- What the companion said (as close to word-for-word as you can),
- What recipe you were cooking and roughly where in the cook it happened,
- The date and time, and your device model / iOS version if handy.
Always use your own judgement and follow the food-safety guidance on your ingredients’ packaging (cooking temperatures, use-by dates, allergens). When in doubt, don’t rely on the companion for a safety-critical decision. See the Terms of Use for more.
